We took a day trip in The Galapagos Islands to Los Tuneles near Isabela Island. It was our last day trip and also our best. By comparison, we also went on a day trip to in Kicker Rock (San Cristobal), and also snorkeled at Punta Pitt (San Cristobal), Playa Mann (San Cristobal), Playa Tortugas (Santa Cruz), Concha Y Perla (Isabela), Santa Fe and Gardner Bay (Espanola).
We went with Isabela Diving Center to the Los Tuneles site on Isabela. The boat trip takes about an hour. On the way we saw a Mantaray which measured over four meters. Once near the snorkeling site, the captain broke through some rough waves into a shallow bay, where a lava landscape appeared.
We swam with many giant sea turtles, saw a puffer fish, came face to face with tens of white tipped sharks resting in a cave, followed a ray, and marveled at a large male and female sea horse. The waves were too high to make to the bay where we could also swim with penguins. The kids were blue-lipped and shivering all the way, despite the wet suits, but everybody was happy we endured.
Here are some pictures of our amazing expedition:
